Toronto’s Largest Transit Operator, TTC, to Launch Open-Loop Payments in Mid-2023

Riders of the largest public transit operator in Canada’s biggest city, the Toronto Transit Commission, or TTC, will finally get an open-loop payments option by mid-2023. That will include the Toronto subway, a spokeswoman for transit agency Metrolinx confirmed to Mobility Payments.

Toronto Area Transit Agency Expands Contactless Pilot, but Canada’s Largest City Slow to Roll Out Open Loop

Canada’s largest city, Toronto, is continuing its move to open-loop payments, though is taking a slow approach–with transit authority Metrolinx not calling an end yet to a more than six-month pilot and then committing to pursuing a rollout in a “phased manner.”
